Absolut Tunes Up First Hispanic Push

NEW YORK -- Absolut Vodka Monday said it will break its first-ever marketing initiative designed to build brand awareness among Hispanic consumers. The national campaign, Absolut Ritmos (Absolut Rhythms), via JMD Communications, San Juan, Puerto Rico, was inspired by Latin music and will mix old-style Hispanic rhythms and popular Latino beats with contemporary techno and dance music, per the company.

Absolut will break the campaign in Miami with print and radio ads, POP, on-premise, music promotions and special events. Spend was not released. The Absolut Ritmos effort will officially be unveiled January 28 with a special event for South Florida's bartenders and "nightlife-influencers." Absolut Ritmos will cover the South Florida region during the next two months and then expand to New York and other Hispanic markets across the U.S. in the spring, per the company.

"We are very excited to reach out to the Hispanic market with a campaign that pays tribute to Latin music," James Goodwin, Absolut vp-marketing, said in a statement. "Absolut has a long history of creatively communicating our brand through arts and culture and Absolut Ritmos follows in this tradition."
